Check with your GP or cardiologist. You wouldn't want to have a heart attack now would you.

Do not stop taking any heart or blood pressure medications without first consulting your physician.

I don't know what you're taking the beta blocker for, there are many different uses. They are used for heart rate, blood pressure, situational anxiety, to prevent migraines, for angina, to prevent heart attacks in individuals who have had a previous attack, and many other uses. Talk to your physician, there is probably a medication you can take that will treat your condition that won't have that side effect. If your physician does prescribe something new, they may have samples you can try first if you are concerned about paying for something that may not work for you.

Check with your cardiologist first, I had to get off beta blockers because 1/2 hour after taking it in the morning I started to have severe anxiety attacks, couldn't go out for the mail, store, and for all purposes I was totally incapacitated.
I was taken to the hospital three times for throwing multiple PVC's 15 to 17 per minute. I explained my situation to the ER doctor and he advised me not to take the pills any more and consult my physician.
There are many meds. on the market right now if one doesn't agree with you there are others that just may.

If you are prescribed beta blockers you must need them for some reason. Talk with your doctor to see if there are other drugs that might treat your condition like calcium channel blockers or ace inhibitors. Do not just stop taking the beta blocker! Your chances of angina or heart attack are greater!

You didn't tell us of the side effects and how serious they are. But as a medical rule, taking beta blockers should be stopped with a physician's recommendation and it will be done gradually.

Yes, I use to take 150 milligrams of zoloft for depression also. I don't know how long your mother has been taking zoloft but it is suppose to be gradually taken off. It's a psycho tropic med. the 150 milligram is suppose to be reduced to a lesser gram and eventually be taken off. So, if she is or was using it for a long time, then I think she became addicted to it. Sometimes people can continue to use it but won't admit abusing it. No, When I got off of it cold-turkey I didn't have no side affect what so ever. For her high blood pressure she needs to take blood pressure pills like procardia or something like that. Aspirins or motrin for headaches depending on how intense the headache is and for dizziness, that's in the high blood pressure catagory. Depression is when you are feeling down about something. So, no I don't believe any of these affects have anything to do Zoloft.

It would depend on the reason you have been prescribed the tablets in the first place, so you should consult your doctor about side-effects and how best to come off the tablets.
I was on beta blockers to help with palpitations due to over-active thyroid, but once they had stopped, I was allowed to come straight off them. Good luck.

You need to call your doctor and report the side effects before you stop taking any prescription drugs. Your doc is NOT a mind reader and has no clue that you are having side effects of the meds if you don't call and tell him. Call first thing Monday morning and let his nurse know what is going on so they can decide what to do for you.

You need to contact your physician before discontinuing any medications, especially those for your heart. I am a nurse on a cardiac unit and I cannot tell you how many patients I have seen who come in after having a heart attack because they took themselves off of their medications without telling their doctor. Your doc will help you find a different medication or a safer way to deal with the side effects.

i have a cardiomyopsthy and i take ramipril and atenolol. Atenolol is a beta blocker and i had really bad side effects off it such as mood swings and my heart felt as though it was skipping beats. i went to a&e and had a heart tape attached for two days!! that was 3 months ago now and im still on them and my symptoms have settled down. maybe you should discuss the side effects that your worried about with your cardiologist!! they are the only people who will settle your mind!!!
i was worried about my tablets and now im doing fine!!
