The body makes lots more urine when there is too much glucose in the blood (its trying to rid the body of the excess glucose) and so it becomes dehydrated and the person wants to drink. Its not lots of peeing because of lots of drink ( as many people think), the excess urination comes first and causes the thirst.

Whether it be Type 1 (insulin dependant) or Type 2 (non-insulin dependant) Some organs will attempt to correct the problem -- the kidneys, for instance, try to get rid of the excess glucose in the blood and go into high gear. They use a lot of water for this, so the diabetic feels thirsty all the time and drinks a lot of water. In turn both types will cause the person to go to the bathroom more then "normal".

What Nana said, and the body is trying to flush the kidneys out. On the chance you have diabetes, let me say--
I realize that conventional health care is necessary and appropriate. That having been said, there are many things WE can do to overcome type II diabetes, and improve life as a Type I diabetic. I've been researching alternative medicine, and the amount of help that's available to diabetics is amazing.
Natural remedies are quite effective, and include:
Cinnamon
Bitter Melon
Gymnema Sylvestre
Nopal cactus
American Ginseng
Fenugreek
Chromium picolinate
Cinnamon regulates glucose, and has a polyphenol compound called MHCP that mimics insulin and activates cell receptor sites. A quarter teaspoon twice daily makes a difference. Fenugreek increases blood flow and inhibits the growth of infectious organisms. Everything on the list has a use in fighting diabetes. Learn how to use these herbs and don't fall victim to diabetes needlessly. You can find out about about them on line, or in a book I read cover to cover--
"One Son's Quest for the Cause and Cure of Diabetes", ISBN 7890766313
The author, a doctor, lost his mother to diabetes and spent the next 20 years finding a way to overcome it. My brother was dying of diabetes, and I was just starting to need insulin when we came across this definitive work which came out in February 2005. We both lead mostly normal lives now. It's a life saver, and the best money you'll ever spend on the subject if you decide to go that way.
You might want to check Abe Books, Alibri's, or Amazon.com for a good used copy cheap. I bought mine new, and I think it was about $35. I don't get any money from anybody for telling you this--just want to help, and the techniques in this book is what made the difference for me and mine. Best of luck.

The excess thirst is due to high blood glucose levels. The high glucose level pulls fluid from the cells to try to thin down the glucose level to a more normal level and the kidney tries to remove the excess from the body. The result is dehydration and excessive thirst to replenish the fluids that are being lost. Often one of the first signs a person has when they develop diabetes.

Excessive amounts of glucose become present in the kidney tubules for diabetic patients. This causes increased urination (look up osmotic diuresis) which consequently is the reason for their water loss and the reason for continued thirst.

that could recommend you're eating plenty and urinating plenty. no matter if that is from diabetes can't extremely be determined from that except you tasted your urine and placed it sweet. it may probable be extra palatable to easily tell your physician that you drink countless water and are urinating plenty.
