pineapple represent properity and melon seeds represent gold.

Pineapple tart because pineapple is "ong lai" in Hokkien, which sounds like "wang lai" in Mandarin, meaning prosperity arrives. I'm not sure about melon seeds though, may be something to do with wealth or descendants?

well.......... "HELLO IT NOT JUST FOR CHINES PEOPLE" all asians celebrate news years with almost with the same thing. they actually dont represent anything. y dont u try to look up wut other foods like the pig and the cotumes and the colors represent?????
