I recently had a heart cath done they used an angio-seal to close the femoral artery has anyone out there had this type of closure after a heart cath?It has been 5 days now and the pain in my leg can be unbearable at times. Walking seems to bring on pain but when I get off my feet and prop them up the pain goes away...How long will these symptoms last?Does anyone know the risks with this type of closure?I didnt know that there were different ways to close the artery..the doc made that call himself.I know that bleeding is stopped quicker and hospital stay is alot shorter.Anything that anyone can tell me about their experience with this type of vascular closure would really be appreciated.

This closure device leaves an anchor inside the artery and a small collagen plug on the outside (attached to the anchor). The collagen should dissolve within a few weeks. After 5 days, you should be pain free. Call your doctor.

I have had the same thing in september 06. I am still experiencing pain in my leg. I can not say how long your symptoms will last.. I had an angio gram. I recently went to the Dr. because I was experiencing so much pain, but the Orthepedic suggested I go back to the Cardiologist. They did not see anything that they could do for me.

Sweet heart I done some research on this and what I saw was some people nearly bleed to death, nothing about legs. So that's probably just a side effect from it. Um...maybe u need to talk to your doctor to see what he tells u.
