I would visit your doctor to see if they can prescribe something else. In the mean time, to cut down on itching use a light dusting of cornstarch it will help.
Eat yogurt as everyone else has said. You may just be one of the unfortunate ones who are susceptible to getting yeast infections.
There may be different over the counter products that you can check at your drug store, but if you get them regularly, I would talk to your doctor.
Good luck.

He will probably give you a pessary in tablet form, you can get them that has a tablet a day for 6 days, or a stronger one that is just one tablet. Either way it stays up there for a couple of days if you know what I mean. Or he may just give you a cream, probably canestan 2%, that can be used externally and internally (they come with little plastic applicators). The symptoms will disappear pretty quickly but you must continue to use the cream for a good couple of weeks afterwards. If you stop treatment too soon the thrush will reappear again. You must treat your partner with the cream for a couple of weeks too as they can catch it and you could end up re-infecting each other. If all else fails there is a tablet you can take orally (I live abroad - here it is called Diflucan) that will clear your body completely of the thrush. This is a last resort and normally only used for recurrent cases that will not clear with pessaries / cream. All of these treatments can be bought over the counter at places like Boots, but they are fairly expensive.

Thrush is a yeast/fungus that is often a result of a depletion of "friendly" bacteria in the GI tract, so stay away from antibiotics as they kill the good and the bad bacteria. Acidopholis is found in yogurt or as tablets/capsules/powders/pearls/lozenges at a health food, and it can replenish the good bacteria that may be missing in your GI tract. Caprlic Acid, found at a health food store in a Candida Cleanse is also affective in clearing up an active Thrush. A good Candida Cleanse will have acidopholis in it but if it a chronic problem then I suggest using an acidophlis preparation every day. Look for one that has 2+billion CFU(colony forming units) per serving( much more than yogurt) that is enteric coated to make it past digestion and into the intestine where they belong.

Prevention is better than cure. I recommend allowing your bits to breathe do not wear pants in bed, go for stockings instead of tights, drink lots of water thoughout the day (min 2 litres).
Also it might be worth getting a blood sugar monitor (about £4 in asda), before my partner was finally diagnosed with diabetes he was in agony with thrush for months on end, and was prescribed all sorts by the Dr. Turned out it was caused by his blood sugar levels being high.
Good luck hope things work out ok, have you tried vagasil cream, it is great for relieving the itching - burning.

You could try this - buy some natural yoghurt from the supermarket and then dip a tampon in it and then insert it. Leave it in for about half hour - 1 hour. The youghurt will go to the source of the infection and should help to clear it up. Then go and see the doctor who may be able to help.

Are you talking about vaginal or oral thrush? For oral thrush Nysatin (Nilstat) has proven to be quite effective. Can't really suggest anything for the vaginal thrush.
You should note though that a constant recurrence of thrush could mean that your immune system has been compromised. this may be as a result of numerous things of few of which are radiation treatment or HIV infection.
You may be better off getting a thorough physical and blood work up done.

join the club i get it all the time. its a nightmare, you just have to persavere with using the cream and pessarys or try taking the oral capsule, as everyone else says try using live yoghurt and have salt baths. do not use perfumed soaps, avoid tight underwear. if you have a sexual partner make sure he uses the cream as well. good luck
