this medication needs to be spaced apart only because the medication is not going to stay strong in you system long enough in a day if you take them both at one time. The medication is supposed to be spaced so it will stay with you all through the day instead of wearing off when the medication is able to stay in your system consistantly. Always take the medication 12 hours apart so you can make sure you get rid of the infection as the doctor directed. Good luck!

Taking them twice a day ensures that there is a consistant level of doxycycline in your system, which enables the drug to fight the infection. If you were to take the 2-at-a-time once-a-day, it would give the infection the opportunity to persist in your system. These types of questions are really best suited for your doctor or pharmacist.

This question isn't as simple as as it looks. Ideally you should follow your MD's directions and take the pill twice daily.
There are cases where you could take TWO 100mg tabs/caps ONCE daily. These include infections that are causing colds/chest infections.
However because this question was placed in the category it was, if treating this kind of infection, the only evidence we have is with the TWICE DAILY regimen. I would stick with this regimen because it is the only one that is proven. I believe this was the method used because of the drug's unique half-life, but regardless we should always stick with the methods we know will work!

NO! Taking more than the recommended dosage at any one time results in side effects due to the high level of the drug being in the system. It also degrades faster. It is paced out because the capsules are designed for slow release to maintain a level in the system constantly. not in one big hit.
Follow the directions as stated and you will be nuch better off that trying to alter the regime to suit your self

That's not a problem at all. Dogs are frequently given a double-dose of Metacam for the first dose. Unless your dog weighs two pounds or less, 0.5 mg is not even a big dose. A five pound dog is usually given a 1.0 mg dose to start, and 0.5 mg dose after that.

Foolow the instructions of the doctor to keep the amount of the antibacterial constant in your system. Otherwise there will be times when it is too low and the bacteria can mutate leading to resistance to the medication.

No. The reason you have to take it twice a day is to keep it at a constant level. If you take it only once a day it won't stay at the level necessary to kill the infection.

Yes it matters. Taking twice the amount once is not good. Take it twice a day.

they have you take it twice through out the day because,it can upset your stomache.
It can make you feel queezy or barf if you take to much at one time.
It is ok if you take two at once,it just can have a bad effect on your stomache.

You should take 4 at the same time, then skip a day, then take 4 etc until finished. This will save save you washing up; you will use less glasses to take the tablets.
