the upper number being 135 and the lower number being 85 - below that is normal , above that is considered that your blood pressure is getting high. if its over 150 on top, get checked why, it may save your life.
The best is no smoking (listen I've been there for 30 years before I quite, and I know what it means), and low salt diet as well as not too much fat intake. Stress, lack of excercise will also make your blood pressure high.

For an adult the normal blood pressure is considered to be from 90/60 to approximately 139/89. Over that is hypertension, and below is hypotension. Blood pressure normal range is different for children.

Generally, a reading that is less than 120 over 80 indicates that you are "normal".

140/90 is considered borderline high - anything less is generally healthy unless its too low, like 85/65.
