Talk with a doctor. I was told that my wife's doctor would be very happy if she could reduce it to 4000 mg or less. The FDA recommends 2400 mg per day. Good luck!

Usually, a LOW SODIUM diet is considered 2 Gram, which equals 2000 milligrams. That is about the bare minimum, as your body still needs salt for certain bodily functions. Usually, the doctor can prescribe what your limit should be.

our cardiac diets consist of 2 grams of sodium. but you should get recommendations from your doctor.
