i need to know a few diff. things that i just cant seem to find a straight answer in my book.please help first... the def. of edematous. second... would a pap smear be sent to microbiology or chemistry? third...what can aerosols be prodused by(int a med. since)? what is CAP testing? and what is a TSH test? if any one can help me answer any of those i would forever be in dept.

A Pap smear is actually sent to a specialized department called cytology and would initially be read by a cytologist. Microbiology deals with things like bacterial cultures and chemistry departments look at things like those in a comprehensive metabolic panel. CAP is the College of American Pathologists and it is the certification most laboratories need to function. A TSH is a Thyroid Stimulating Hormone test and it is performed to find out wheter a thyroid gland is working properly or not. The TSH is usually ordered with a Free T4 to find out.

I believe the definition is an excessive accumulation of serous fluid in tissue spaces or a body cavity. And I am sorry, but I don't understant the aerosol question. Good luck

Edematous means swollen.
Pap would go to Pathology Dept. which is microbiology.
aerosols - ?
CAP = College of American Pathologists, for starters.
TSH is a thyroid test. (thyroid stimulating hormone).
