It is a fact - and all red wines.

In moderation of course, like one glass per day.

see below from wiki

There have been many studies done that actually show wine can be beneficial to health. The FDA has suggested that one to two glasses of red wine per day might help reduce cholesterol and decrease the chances of cancer. Studies have shown that alcohol may benefit many bodily organs, including the heart and the brain. However, the benefits are available only when wine is taken in moderation as over consumption of alcohol including wine can cause some diseases including cirrhosis of the liver and alcoholism [3]. Also the American Heart Association recommends that people not start drinking if they do not already drink alcohol just to gain the benefits that wine provides[4].

"The French Paradox" that is the long-known fact that heart diseases are less common in France than in USA, which French people attribute to their high consumption of wines even though scientists have proved that alcohol is not the factor here, recently found the explanation by pointing to another component of wines. It turned out that grapes grown without fungicides develop fungi-protecting chemicals, which happen to have those heart-beneficial properties. Muscat grapes have been found to have those chemicals in concentrations five times stronger than other kinds of grapes

Red wine is supposed to be good & cabernet sauvignon is OK. Keep off red meats, they are bad for heart conditions. Get your cholesteral levels checked & I suggest 6 monthly blood tests at your GP. Walking 2 miles a day is recommended.
Good luck

I have heard on the news not to long ago, that the red wine from France is the kind that is good for your heart. I wonder what is next.
I drink a functional juice which prevents disease and keeps my immune system healthy and I am drinking all kinds of wine, but not for any health reason. People in Europe are generally healthier, because they eat smaller portions and walk to the grocery stores. They don't have any drive throughs either. It's not the food they are eating, its all the walking they do to run their arrands and of course small portions of food.

I think it has been scientically proven that red wine is good for you though in moderation say two 125ml glasses a day. Personally I cannot stand most red wines. Give me a really good Italian (Southern Italy) organic white wine without sulphites in it and I am sure it less harmful than some of these so called healthy red wines.

Just my opinion.
