most mainstream brands -colgate, crest, aquafresh- contain animal ingredients and/or are tested on animals. go to any store like whole foods, wild oats, etc, and they have completely vegetarian alternatives that work wonderfully. most are completely natural- they dont use all those gross chemicals like the popular brands do! i agree that they should write on the label whether it's contains animal ingredients/testing. many of the cruelty free ones will say no animal ingredients and not tested on animals. i use auromere licorice flavor and i love it, but there are plenty of others. One company, Tom's of Maine, can even be found in some mainstream stores. i've seen it at walgreens.

Mostly the things which is not mentioning specifically about the vegetarian or non-vegetarian , mostly the product will be based on vegetarian ingredients.More so certain products which is used externally the ingredients mostly will be may made of from vegetarian and non -vegetarian pariticles .Since you want to know exactly, mostly the tooth paste will be an vegitarian item only.

Always be on the safe side and check the ingredients label no matter what. The problem is that most toothpaste brands do test on animals. But if you buy the "natural" toothpastes then they might not have fluoride in them. You do want to have the fluoride, which helps prevent cavities, and fluoride is just a mineral (vegan).

most toothpaste is made from some version of sodium bicarbonate. My grandfather used only that. They might mean that the toothpaste was not tested on animals, or some companies put that there so they can guarantee to the consumer that the product does not contain animal products and you don't have to wonder.

Some, but not all. A colgate toothpaste use pearl as an ingredient, that is not-vegetatian. Try going to a Buddhist temple and ask them which brand they used to confirm, rofl.
rules r meant to b broken anyways, they just try to extract moneys from vegeterians by using cheap animal product like lard
