No, they are a lot cleaner and safer to burn than paraffin. Soy is made from a vegetable- soy beans.

Paraffin is made from leftover crude petroleum. .

Soy is safer as long as it doesn't have a lead core wick, which no candles are supposed to have any more.

Soy candles are all natural as long as they are 100% soy. You have to be careful because alot of candlemakers combine the soy flakes with other additives. You just want to be sure you are getting a 100% all natural soy product when you make you purchase. Check out the website I listed...there is more info and they are always good about answering questions.

No they're not. I actually like them more than regular candles because they burn clean.
