after seeing this,

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070203/ap_on_fe_st/wing_bowl

and after controlling the urge to hurl, i got to thinking...why not have a vegan eating contest?? c'mon, we can join the ranks of fun too! if we can't enjoy ourselves, and laugh at how many tofutti ice cream bars we can cram into our mouths, or how many veggie chicken nuggets we can force into our stomachs, then who will?

oh wait...there are plenty of trolls out there to do that anyway, i forgot! (in case any vacant people are reading this, this last sentence is--say it with me...!--sarcasm! *nods*)

haha yes, i know it's gross to watch. but it's a tad bit of silly fun, and at least it's not totally unhealthy! i've yet to see a vegan professional eater (i chose those 3 words in careful order, for those of you who are cannibalistic in humour hehe)...though i don't know HOW one becomes a 'professional' at eating, or WHY...it was just an amusing thought.

people! relax! lower thy pitchforks and torches! the idea was a mere amusing idea, lasting for but a few seconds in my mind! i was trying to make a little light of the grosser situation about that guy and all his 20,000 drunk friends! AN IDEA IS ALL! i wouldn't even know how to go about organizing such a thing! jeebuz! and since there are SoOo many people clammoring for veggie nuggets or boca burgers, ARE we vegans (are YOU, before you persecute me?) going down to homeless shelters and passing out warm n toasty veggie burgers or coooking some yummy vegan food for the soup kitchens? you know, i may just do that, if i find a place that would let me!

I WAS ONLY ENTERTAINING AN IDEA IN MY HEAD for fun. yes, it's friggin disgusting and ridiculous that you can cram 180-something chicken wings into your fat, nasty stomach. yes, it's wasteful, and yes, i know how much **** in our own country we have not even begun to correct yet!

jeez!

I think a vegan eating contest with a purpose would be cool. Like contestants get sponsors that will donate an amount of money per item eaten. The money could go towards raising awareness of vegan causes, or even helping people in third world countries get vaccines, clean drinking water, and clothing. It's always good to help people who don't have the ability to eat 80 boca burgers at one sitting! haha

... obviously since they are vegan and the eating contest burgers are supposed to be vegan... This wasn't a very good question. Kind of irritates me that you thought this was funny or something.

I'm split on the subject. Imagine childhood, and those innocent pie eating constest some of us participated in. (raising my hand) It was fun, don't you agree?

Now think about this on the adult level. WIth poverty still existing, and starvation taking the lives of who-knows-how-many per year, don't you think that eating contests are wasteful? I do. So is meat eating, which is one of my reasons for being vegan. I believe that once you realize this, and if you participate in an eating contest afterward, that doing so is actually sinful. It's not sinful if you've not thought about it and are not conscientious of the more global problem. But then again, this is my humble opinion.

Eating contest? I'll pass, thanx.

Food Fight Grocery (a vegan store in Portland Ore) had a vegan eating contest a few months ago.

I agree with everyone who thinks eating contests are morally wrong. We are so wasteful in the United States, and there are people in other countries (and in the U.S.!!!) who don't have any food. How can we possibly participate in something so horrible! No wonder people in other countries hate americans so much. We think only of ourselves.

Mmmm, that's what I'm doing right now... trying to see how much how much General Tso's tofu I can eat.

I can't help it; it's sooo good. But General Tso's tofu night only happens once every couple of months. I'm not sure I'd want a camera on me or anything. LOL

:)

professional eating is scary to me. Why would people want to do that? honestly it's disgusting. Especially when there are so many without food. Vegan or not, it is really gross.
