my daughter is again having a chest infection, she suffers from asthma. She's been prescribed antibiotics, she coughs a lot. I am afraid she come used to antibiotics, do you know any other way to get rid of chest infection instead of antibiotics?

If the chest infection is from a bacteria, then yes, antibiotics are the way to go.

If it is a viral infection, though, antibiotics are a bad idea. Talk to her doctor about which type of infection she has.

As far as home remedies to relieve symptoms, taking hot showers is always good, using vaporizers to loosen congestion, drinking hot liquids (hot tang with a little tea works well). However, these aren't a substitute for antibiotics in the case of a bacterial infection.
