You're probably right. Scrub away the mold really well. I usually use bleach whenever I find mold, but it depends on where the mold is (if it's in reach of your son or pet then maybe use something else).

Then get that spot dry. You may have to scrape off wallpaper or paint down to the bare plaster, but you'll thank yourself later for doing it properly. If it's safe to use a fan or fan-heater pointed at it on low, then some people do that for a few days. Keep your central heating on for a few days so that the ambient humidity goes down.

Is it an outside wall where moisture is being held against it by shrubs or a bush or something? Then get rid of that foliage. Is it where a bookcase or piece of furniture is up against a wall trapping moisture? If so, ensure you leave a gap between that thing and the wall from now on. Does your wall need sealing against moisture? Visit your diy shop and see if they have something you can apply before you make it good again.

Yes. Mold can be very very dangerous. In some cases, extreme exposure can even be deadly. Get a professional to remove the mold and get your son to a doctor.

definitely.Mold can cause that also If you have allergies or asthma, you may experience skin rash and itching, running nose, eye irritation, cough, congestion, and aggravation of asthma. Also, if you have an immune suppression or underlying lung disease, you may be at increased risk for infections from molds.
