She feels ok, just has a croopy cough. No fever. Anything I can do to help her get well?

We don't smoke nor is she around smokers. She is 5 years old. I never heard of taking antibiotics for bronchitis. But some people love to take 'em!

Okay believe it or not but I am going to give you the best cure to breathing easier! When my little sister was 4 she had croup. My mom would steam the bathroom with the shower as hot as she could, about 10 minutes and then bring my sister in there down to her underwear for a good 5-10 minutes until you couldn't see in there anymore. Then she would wrap her in a towel, run fast to get outside and let her breathe in the cool or cold air for a few seconds, to a minute and then bring her back inside. It helped soooooo much. I do it to this day as a 26 year old. It opens up the bronchioles in the lungs to allow deep breathing. I am not saying that she will be done with croup, but it is a nice short cure to get some sleep and to breathe easier. Also, they can give you antibiotics to help with bronchitis. I think it is called Omnicef. I had pneumonia and that is what they gave me. Good luck, I know how horrible you must feel for her.

If your child has bronchitis, she will need to see a doctor. They will prescribe antibiotics. Sometimes steam will help break up a cough a bit.

Give her plenty of juice. You didn't say how old. Make sure you are there by the child's side to reassure them that they will be o.k.

Also be sure that their environment is nice and cozy and put a movie or something on for them so that they sleep as much as possible. Bronchitis can be miserable, but sleeping is one of the best things for it.

GL!

Get her to the doctor. Bronchitis can resolve itself or turn into pneumonia. Mine did in December. Don't let her be miserable, get her on some antibiotics. She'll be fine in no time. Meanwhile, fluids, popcicles, and lots of love.

Has she seen a doctor?...She might need antibiodics...also...lather her chest and back with Mentholatum and have a cold air vaporizer. Lots of fluids....to help break up congestion.

Quit smoking around her, and don't let anyone else. Don't take her anywhere that allows smoking.
