You can only get it if you recieved the virus from someone else. Mostly sexually transmitted. The good this a vaccine that came out called GARDASIL and most PPO insurances are willing to pay for it for women. During a womens pregnancy they are tested for all many diseases. I work for an OB/GYN and I never knew that there was so much testing done until recently. The other good thing is if you have an outbreak of HPV they can be froze off with liquid nitrogen. Don't be embarrased to ask your doctor or local clinic. In the state of CA there is a program called FPACT and most local Planned Parenthoods have it. It is a teal card you can sign up and see doctors and get free treatment for any STDS. Plus it is confidental and your parents don't have to know anything, even if you already have insurance they can put you on the FPACT card!

No. When I found out that I had HPV, I was worried about possibly passing it on when I decide to have another child. My doctor said there was no worry, my baby would be safe.

No, because it is a virus. It can be given from mother to child if there is no treatment of the mother before the baby is born. It is a rampant disease and even contributes to cervical cancer. Just a little PSA here: Don't have indiscriminate sex. You can get stuck with a disease for LIFE!

That is still unknown, but I believe you can't I think it is just a virus you can aquire anywhere at anytime, no matter how healthy you are...There is a vaccine for it though to help you not get it or if you do get it help fight it off before any really trouble starts.

hope I helped...
