Oh what a charming question. It's clear what your thoughts on the subject are.
For some of us, if we can avoid causing, directly or indirectly, suffering to another living thing, then we try very hard to do so. To me, they are the same thing. Helping to ensure the "comfort" of a cow, for instance, by not using dairy and not eating meat, happens to give me great comfort. I enjoy my food, not just because it tastes great, but because I eat it knowing that no animals suffered as a result.

Ultimately we are all looking for our own comfort. But for most of us we can't be comfortable if others are suffering. Even if they are animals (think about what you would do if someone was abusing a dog).

So the solution is a combination of trying to alleviate that suffering (e.g. activism, helping others) and trying to lessen our discomfort with the suffering (e.g. finding out what you can tolerate, finding meaning). I can eat a cow because I'm relatively comfortable with its suffering, but someone who isn't comfortable with it, that doesn't mean they are wrong.

The comfort of the cow.
If I didn't care about the cow, I would eat it.

Knowing that I am not causing discomfort to any cows makes me very comfortable. Thank you for your concern.

The comfort of one is not mutually exclusive to the other. There is no reason why we both can't be happy.

Both - I feel very sorry for the stupid cow, which was bred to provide me with comfort. How selfish we are.

I respect cows for providing us with dairy products but in order for us to be healthy whether we like dairy or not, its an important thing we have to consume.Whether you're vegetarian, vegan, carnivore, from the time a human being is given birth to the time they are elder adults, its part of the food pyrimand to consume milk. To answer your question, I would say yes, the comfort of me but I still love the cows for providing us with all that dairy!
