I had an ultrasound stress test and everything was normal. I use to jog a lot but after finding out that I have unspecified st depressions on my ekg reading I have been scared to do anything strenous. Should I be worried about this at all? Does this mean I am more proned to heart disease in the future? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Patients have ST depression/elevation for a variety of reasons...certain meds can cause a "swoop" of the ST, and marked difference of the ST can signify damage to a part of the heart, usually from a MI(myocardial infarction, or heart attack)...but Unspecified ST doesn't necessarily signify anything. Unless your Doctor or Cardiologist has told you otherwise, strenuous activities shouldn't be much of a problem. Of all of the things that could be abnormal on an EKG, this is one of the minor ones, especially since it is unspecified, or non-specific as it is sometimes referred to.Good Luck!

Overcome your Depression Without Medication

non-st segment depression are just it, non-specific, these are electrical signals from the heart which nobody ( not even the cardiologist ) knows its meaning, they usually correlate it clinically for symptoms and they run other test to make sure its really benign... it does not mean you will be prone to heart disease in the future, it also does not mean you will be free from heart disease in the future... like i said it does mean anything...if you are assymptomatic, and your other test ( stress test, 2D echo of the heart ) are normal, then dont worry about it.

P.S. dont you have a doctor in your area who interprets all these lab results to you ?

The S-T segment
Flat, downsloping, or depressed ST segments may indicate coronary ischemia (deficient blood supply).
Coronary artery disease is suggested by horizondality, plane depression or sagging of the S-T segment, particularly in Standard lead II and leads V5 and V6.
Coronary artery disease involves impairment of blood flow through the coronary arteries, most commonly by atheromas. Clinical presentations include silent ischemia, angina pectoris, acute coronary syndromes (unstable angina, MI), and sudden cardiac death. Diagnosis is by symptoms, ECG, stress testing, and sometimes coronary angiography. Prevention consists of modifying reversible risk factors (eg, hypercholesterolemia, physical inactivity, smoking). Treatment includes drugs and procedures to reduce ischemia and restore or improve coronary blood flow.
