specifically cause for hyper and hypo, and the impact to heart rate?

If your blood pressure is too low, your heart beats faster to increase the blood flow to your organs. If your organs don't get enough by flow, your body compensates by sending more. Having said this, certain meds prevent this response. (like beta blockers) If you experience a 'vagal' response, (from pain, anxiety, stress, nausea) your heart rate and blood pressure both go down. If you have high pressure, your heart rate isn't usually affected directly from the pressure, but it might go up for the same reason your blood pressure did. ie stress, pain.
