Lions (and indeed, all cats) are a species that need meat to survive. It contains a substance that can't be manufactured artificially, so even your house cat needs meat in her diet.

Human beings, however, choose to eat meat. There are plenty of other protein sources, including nuts, soy foods, sprouted seeds, etc. (See the URL below.) The same is true of their vitamins and minerals.

And even leaving aside the ethical and moral issues of eating meat (to say nothing of health), vegetarianism is a much more effective use of resources than meat eating. The same grain that's required to fatten one cow can feed several people for two to three days.

So next time you're out on the veldt and a lion is charging toward you, just remember -- he needs you a lot more than you need him. I'm sure that will be a great source of comfort to you as you become Purina Lion Chow.

A lion shall not attack a jugular vein of a human...anyways a healthy and sane lion shall not because a lion would rather prefer a herbivore....hope you get the point!

Lions are carnivores. They have a short digestive tract for quickly digesting meat. Humans have a long digestive tract that is not ideal for processing meat. Who is trying to convert wild animals anyway?

"Specifically, the lion’s small intestine, where most of the nutrients are only about three times the length of his body. This means that the meat he eats moves through his system quickly, while it’s still fresh. Humans, however, have much, much longer intestines, with food taking from 12 to 19 hours to pass through the digestive system. This is ideal for plant-based foods, allowing our intestinal tracts to absorb every little bit of nutrient available, but it also means that when we eat meat it’s decaying in a warm, moist environment for a very long time. As it slowly rots in our guts, the decaying meat releases free radicals into the body."

And I'm not following you on the "Hollywood know nothings."

First off, you have to be smart enough to not piss off the lion so that it's not going to kill you. Second, the fact that a lion would likely kill me (if I wasn't be smart) doesn't make me want to eat one. I still eat poultry but it's not to prevent chicken from pecking me. I have a hard time thinking that a chicken looks at me and thinks "I better not peck her-she's might eat me!".

And...I am tired of hollywood know-nothings, but I did not become (mostly) vegetarian on the advice of some actor.

Do you think that a lion has the same reasoning capabilities as a human? I don't know about you, but I have higher standards for myself than that.
