Last year I had bronchitis and it took 4 weeks to stop coughing. If it doesn't interfere with sleep I wouldn't worry. On the other hand, if you feel that the cough if not productive, you may need more medical attention. Mucinex does work if you want over the counter medicine. Good Luck.

Go and get some of that Mucinex medicine. It is over the counter and it will help you get rid of the phlegm. It might also help to go get an expectorant. It will loosen the secretions to make them easier to cough up.

The brain often will have sensory areas closer to each other which are completely unrelated. There is something called the photic sneeze effect which some people have, they will sneeze a few times when their eyes are exposed to bright sunlight suddenly. its because the optical part of the brain is close to the sneeze part of the brain and there's some signal leakage. If I scratch my shoulderblade my leg itches, same deal. Your ear and cough thing is a similar thing.

you may still have phlegm or have the tissue a bit irritated. Try some phlegm expectorant if you want. However if after like 3 days you still have the same syntomps (no diminishing at all) visit your doctor

Gargling with warm water and baking soda is known to help. In a four ounce cup mix 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda. Repeat several times if necessary.

I have had a similar situation and went to a doctor. He told me that I had an allergy to dust and mold. So I had to by a Honeywell HEPA filter machine that I use at night and it really helps.

I was advised to skip the medicines, which can just make it worse, and instead get LOTS of liquids, especially water, which will help loosen up and get rid of the mucous.
I did that and it did seem to help.
