I would say no. I have been told by everyone that eating the animal for that year is usually a good thing..Strange as that may seem. Here in Nanjing I'm just glad that we don't have a year of the duck since Nanjing's Salty duck looks and tastes like it was first run over by a truck and then set in a bucket of salt to dry....really gross.

I say nope b/c one year i ate chicken on chinese new year(the yr of chicken) and nothing happened to me ...besides those red envolopes w/ money in it are all good luck you'll need ..
