Pinn Diabetic,

Hi,

I was newly diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes last year and want to meet up with other diabetics living in Pinner. For me it has meant a lot of change in my life in terms of excercise, diet and medicine.

It has been a steep learning curve and would like some friends along the way who know what it means to be diabetic.

I'm suggesting that we can meet up and share our knowledge and experience to benefit us all.

Contact me on mperihar@googlemail.com

Regards

Mozza

Hi,

Sounds great if I lived near Pinner (sorry I don't actually even know where that is!). You should also check with your local diabetes clinic for existing groups - there's a thing called 3D which diabetes uk run which are like local support groups, and there might be other groups in your area. Through 3D I set up a group supporting families with children with diabetes in my area.

Good luck with it - email me if you want any advise about how to set up a group etc. or just a chat about diabetes! I think you can click on my name to the left and then click on send a message.

While protection from diabetic complications cannot be seen easily in the short - term, there is good reason to believe, based on laborotary observations and accepted disease theory, that end-organ (heart, eye, nerve and kidney) damage can be substantially mitigated in all types of diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes is primarily linked to obestity. It also has a strong genetic component that increases the risk of contracting the disease. Type 2 diabetes ( previously called ''adult onset'') is now commonly seen in obese children and teenagers. In newly diagnosed ( early stage) daibetics, particularly the obese, the mangosteen appears to have a beneficial effect in reducing carbohydrate cravings. This facilitates weight loss, which is critical in controlling the severity of the disease. Additionally,type2 diabetics experience significant decreases in blood sugar levels
by using the fruit.
A word of caution - diabetic patients too often take mangosteen's favourable effects on blood sugar to mean that they can relax their vigilance regarding dietry restrictions or just outright ''cheat'' with forbidden calories. Such action will nulify the beneficial effects of this marvellous food supplement. For dosing information, see The Medical Applications of Mangosteen.
Patients must test their blood sugar daily to know when to contact their physician for a reduction in medication levels.

I am not a diabetic, but I do not live all that far away from you, and I just wanted to introduce you to the Mangosteen and the benefits of using it in diabetes. I hope you find this information of use to yourself and any group members you may get in future.

I applaude your appetite for knowledge and if you require more information either e-mail me or visit......
