I had an ekg that was normal my potassium and thyroid and blood pressure were also tested and were normal. I still get dizzy spells and my heart still beats hard, from time to time, but not daily. I dont feel stressed or anxiety either,,,quit caffine and salty foods, and still get these symptoms.

I'd get a copy of your test results. I had vertigo for years and it was due to an underactive thyroid. The first time I got my thyroid tested it was normal. A year after, it was out of range and I got diagnosed. On Armour thyroid now I no longer have the vertigo.

Thyroid testing should always be done in the morning. The TSH should be below 2.0. Above 2.0 indicates it is slowing down, though the lab may say up to 5.5 is normal. You may have a TSH of 4.5 and your doctor will say your thyroid is fine.....so check up on this. If you have further thyroid testing remember to have it in the morning only. An afternoon test may stop a diagnosis because TSH changes throughout the day and is at its lowest point around 2PM. I would recommnd next time you test to get a TSH, Free T4, Free T3, and an antibody test

Drugs like caffeine or pseudoephedrine (in cold medicine) can cause this. Otherwise, anxiety or stress can also cause it. It depends on the dizziness though. If you feel "lightedheaded" or woozy, it's probably stress or some drug you're using. More serous but less likely would be that you're having irregular heartbeats, which a blood pressure check would not catch.

If you feel like the room is actually spinning, then it's probably an inner ear problem. The pounding heart would then be caused by the stress brought about by the spinning sensation. Inner ear or sinus infections can cause this.

If it's an irregular heartrhythm, an EKG would only catch it if the arrhythmia occurred when the EKG was given. An event monitor could catch ephemeral arrhythmias. What you would do is record your heart whenever you felt dizzy, then they could see if that was the problem.

You didn't mention how old you are... Different things can cause it, some serious, some not. Was your doc concerned? Did he mention anything about stress, or anxiety? If it trully is a heart problem, and not from anxiety-you probably need to see a cardiologist. Many people suffer from irregular heart beats, and most need no treatment. Depends on the symptoms and the cause, so you need to find the cause. Sometimes they'll put you on a 24hr halter moniter-just a 24 hr EKG so to speak, so you can mark the moniter and it'll match your complaints with whateve your heart is doing.

How is your Magnesium status? Has your doctor tested your red blood cell magnesium levels??? Magnesium deficiency is common and causes a secondary potassium deficiency within the cells (which is where potassium is needed).

Sounds like an irregular heart rhythm. Did they do a EKG/ECG?
Sounds like you need one.
