My dad had a heart bypass surgery on the 22nd of January, they found pneumonia AFTER 2nd day of his recovering,he is on antibiotics and morphine for the pain.He is also on oxygen because he has much sputum that he is slowly trying to get out and that i believe disrupts his breathing. He is barely EVER opened eyed when i take mom to see him.Yesterday he was able to write us a note saying "everything tires him out". Does anyone know why this is? Thank you.

Are you kidding? He's really sick AND recovering from major surgery.
Another person with just pneumonia would be able to cough and get that garbage out of their chest. Imagine the pain that causes your father right now. And the fluid in his chest is making it very hard for his chest incision to heal. Give it time. Keep going to see him as often as you can. Remind him....this WILL pass and he'll get better. He'll have better days and some bad days...but soon---the good days will outnumber the bad ones.

Being a dick is not illegal. And while he might be being horribly obnoxious, you getting violent is not helping things. Being violent IS illegal. Yo complain about his breaking stuff? You break stuff too: a TV and a glass door. You throw things. You kicked a whole in the wall. You attacked your step dad by your own admission. That's called assault. You complain he tackled you, even though you admit you were physically out of control. He is wrong that you don't have any rights. However, I'm not at all sure whatever it was you were talking about is a "right." You are legally under his supervision unless he is criminally abusive or neglectful, in which case you could get the law involved. You complain "they start the problem." Are you sure? You're a teen, and you're angry. Teens tend to blame everything on their parents. Are they, perhaps, being strict with you because you are out of control? Breaking TVs and kicking holes in walls is NOT normal teenage behavior. You want to blame your behavior on them. Maybe they're trying to bring discipline back to an increasingly violent child. I'm not meaning to put all the blame back on you, but I do suggest you take a very hard look at your own part in all of this, rather than simply painting yourself the victim.

Poor guy. I'm sure he's tired. His is anemic. He is suffering from pneumonia. He is recovering from cardiac surgery. And on top of it, the staff is waking him up at all hours and making him walk and do incentive spirometry. And if he has pain meds on board, these are quite sedating. Plus, if he is like most of my patients, he is really depressed at this point by his prolonged recovery. But he is recovering, even if it is slowly. Good luck to him---give him some encouragement. He is getting better, even if it is a little slowly.

Of course he's tired. He had heart bypass surgery and pneumonia. Pain medication can make him drowsy. Everything he's been through is more than enough to wear anyone down. Just try to keep him encouraged. I hated seeing my dad laying in the hospital bed after his heart surgery. It's disheartening to see your childhood hero so weak. Just be supportive and keep him company. I wish you and your family the best. My prayers are with your dad.

He's not getting enought ogygen in his blood because of the sputum. it isn't letting the oxygen from his lungs reach the vessles that recieve the ogygen into the blood stream and pump it through the body.
Turning up the oxygen WILL NOT help this. He's got to get that fluid off of his lungs.
I'll be praying fo you. Prayer Changes Things

Have you ever had pnuemonia? It wipes you out even without heart bypass surgery. Plus the pain killers and other meds they give him are probably not helping. When a person is sick their body naturally slows down to direct energy towards healing. From what you described his reaction to all that has happened sounds normal. Good luck and I hope he gets better.
