Every childhood party we ever had included the same food-hot dogs, pizza, chips, cake. I have very fond memories of those parties.

I usually work around a theme and go from there. I know at that age alot of boys seem to like naruto. Start by involving him with the party planning, let him pick the theme, decorations, food, games, etc. I typed in on yahoo search : birthday planning ideas for 7 yr. old boy! There are so any diff. sites with good idea's for fun party's, I'm sure you will find lots of good idea's. Most important, don't let it stress you, have fun with it and involve him in the planning, you will be surprised at that age how many idea's they have on their own!

Hi, I had a Lego party for my son at that age. I set out a huge table w/ Legos and all the kids built things -- they loved it. I had Lego invitations/napkins/plates from BirthdayExpress.com. Little tiny Lego sets as party favors. I put little Lego men on the cake. Of course, this works only if your son already has a lot of Legos! Good luck, and happy birthday to your son!
