Your systalic pressure is definitely high, however one reading will not determine if it is "regularly high" It is not uncommon for a systalic pressure (in your case the 162) to jump 10-30 points within minutes of eachother. You feeling scared and taking it would make it shoot up. Fear, anxiety, etc., increase your systalic pressure. You need to take several readings and take the average, this will give you a better example. Note that the drugstore, grocery pharmacy bp machines are an okay medium for testing, but are not as accurate as a doctor or bp cuff. You might not get accurate readings if your arm is larger or smaller than 9in-13in.
Your diastolic pressure was fine anything below 80 is good, a good number is 75. Because your systalic was high but your diastalic not, it leads me to think that you were startled, scared, and need to have many tests to check accuracy.
I am not a good source for Menopause, it sounds relative and could be.
My final advice is ALWAYS ALWAYS go to a doctor concerning blood pressure, he will be able to give you options of what to do if it is high and be able to consider you for medication.
I hope the best for you and that you feel better!

Sounds more like blood pressure than menopause. When you have hot flashes in menopause, you don't actually have a temperature and I don't think heart palpatations. Have you been treated for high blood pressure? I was wondering how you knew what your pressure was, I am hoping you aren't depending on those machines they put in the waiting areas of pharmacy's, because they are not reliable at all, even going to the doctor isn't reliable, that's why they take your pressure every time so they can see if there is a pattern of high numbers. I'd try some Tylenol and call the doc with your concerns.

That blood pressure value is high, and you should probably see your doctor to get it tested again and possibly start treatment. But the episodes that you're having souns kind of like hot flashes, which is just part of menopause. Your doctor can possibly give you information about things that can help relieve some of these symptoms. Either way, I think it's a good idea to see a physician just to be sure that nothing serious is going on.
Hope this helps.

I am not sure that you have actually asked a question, you have listed what has happened to your husband, but not really said what you want to know? You have not given your husbands age, medical history or current medication history if there is one, nor said if he smoke, which would be a disaster and if he does should be the first thing to go. He appears from what you have said to have 3 risk factors:- Overweight, though you don't give the level. Raised blood pressure. Raised cholesterol. There are a number of things he can try and do to help himself, though they are unlikely to result in him avoiding medication if the problems are well established. They are all pretty obvious lifestyle changes. Moderate regular exercise 5 days a week, within the limitations currently imposed by his weight and his asthma. This would help him lose weight, it also lowers blood pressure and increases HDL cholesterol, the good cholesterol. A weight reduction diet, low in animal fats, this wold help weight loss, which helps lower blood pressure and help lower cholesterol. It would also reduce his future risk of diabetes, which is the next stage in what is often called 'the metabolic syndrome'. ( obesity, hypertension, hypercholesterolaemia, diabetes and heart disease, making up a composite disease entity.) Exercise would also help his asthma, make him fitter and more able to do more exercise and as an independent positive factor increase his lifespan. It is also a good idea to reduce salt intake. It is a bit of a tall order to get all these things right, but if you do the odds move in your favour!

Ur Blood pressure is alright for ur age but take three different readings as 162 is bit on upper limit. ( cut the salt ) The symptoms u r discribing arr all appears due to menopause .they may persist for few months to 1-2 years .First u need not worry as this is a natural thing due to lake of hormones. If the symptoms r severe u should go visit ur gynaec & she can prescribe u HRT that is hormone replacement therpy in very small dose . Before that u can change ur diet take lots of soya products which contain natural estrogen hormones & help abetting thses symptoms. U should have lots of fresh fruits & take walks for 3-4 kms at brisk speed that will reduce bp also & help in improving the symptoms. U can also take simrose capsules that contain primrose oil & help in these symptoms. Along with this take calcium & vitamin d 3 to prevent osteoporosis which starts usually with menopause. If not relieved than u can try HRT.

You have both. The menopause can cause a variety of symptoms including anxiety and panic attacks. This in turn creates other problems such as higher blood pressure. You really need to see your Doctor who can prescribe medication to help. Try to keep calm,do some deep breathing exercises and see you Doctor as soon as possible.

Your BP appears to be all right at 50. The normal BP should be 120/80, as such, you should not worry.
Your dizziness and headache might be due to cervical spondylosis if it comes out to be true then you have to take medicines and physiotherapy like traction and do regular exercise of your neck.
With your age you are nearing menopause. in India capsule Menopace and tab shellcal, one each daily, are given during menopause. You may find out the equivalent medicines in your country.

You are undergoing harmonal changes due to menopause. Instead of going for harmone replacement therapy, I would recommend you to start drinking NOni herbal fruit juice twice a day. You will find the result within ten days.

I'm 49 and I know what you mean. Changes in hormone (estrogen and progesterone) levels can cause the symptoms (racing heart at night, is especially annoying to me) you mentioned and also effect your blood pressure. But, please see your doctor.
Using progesterone cream will help with the hot flashes and headaches.
