every now and then i get a sensation like my heart stops (for about 3 seconds), with a heavy pressure over my chest. then, it's like it finally 'takes a breath' and beats again.
then, the other day, i was sitting when this occurred again, but this time i got a head rush (like a blood pressure response when you stand up too quickly - but i was just sitting); during which i had to just close my eyes with head in hand until it finished about 7 seconds later.
is this something to be concerned about?

Yep!

It could be a blood pressure issue. It could be a cholestoral blockage issue. It could be a number of potentially serious things.

See your doctor.

Hello - go to a doctor immediately - he/she will be able to tell you if your ailment is imagined or real. if you want to try out some home remedies you may perhaps wish to visit this website which i found very informative.

Not knowing anything about you, like you age, height, weight and family history, I would say to go see your doctor.
