The Doctor said its nothing but a cold, no antibiotics were needed..after 2 weeks her cold went away she was still coughing a few times a day. We took her to the doctor two days ago of course because she was still coughing and the doctor listened to her lungs did a check up and said to give her flonase for her sinuses that it might be post nasel drip. For the past three days, she has used it once a day. The doctor said if she continues to could he would take x-rays of her sinus to see if there is an infection. Wouldn`t her nose be runny if there was a sinus infection, anyone have this same thing with their child. She has no fever, no runny nose..has lots of energy, etc..I know this is not the place for medical advice but I am worried and just wondering what it could be. Please be serious if you reply don't need someone saying go to the doctor 100 times. We are taking her again, just wanted some info. Thanks for everything... :)

It takes a while for your body to recover after you've had a cold or other illness that involves your respiratory system. There is usually a bit of "junk" in your lungs that your body needs get out. Sometimes it's just too thick for your lungs to absorb so the only alternative is to cough it out. If you had a bad cold or the flu, the cough could last a while. It could indeed be post nasal drip which, in my case, is not accompanied by a runny nose. Ask your doctor to refer you to a Ear Nose and Throat specialist. If it is post nasal drip, s/he should be able to tell immediately. I've also had sinus infections but, almost every time, I've also had at least a little green discharge from my nose. Good luck and I hope this clears up soon!

Thus is probably nothing to worry too much about but taking her back to the doctor is wise. The cough of bronchitis can last long after the infection has resolved often for months due to the hyperactivity of the airways. Post nasal drip from a sinus infection can cause cough, runny/ stuffy nose is not necessary for sinus infection. Allergies and asthma are also a big cause of unexplained cough in kids. Pertussis (a form of bronchitis) is increasingly a common cause of cough.

Sometimes in children the sinuses are not developed and are small and get stopped up. This causes may ear problems too. She could very well have asthma since she is still coughing, which goes along with sinuses trouble . Depending on the age of the child there is also other viral things which can make her cough such as RSV if she is below age of 3 .
