I have a bad cough that just wont go away. I had 101 fever a few days ago but now it's all gone. I feel much better but I still can't get rid of that cough. Any idea what it could be? Any home remedies or medicine anybody else can recommend?

Coughs can be serious, especially if it is accompanied with a fever. Home remedies aren't for this kind of cough. Please get it checked by a qualified medical practitioner or doctor.

it sort of depends on how long you've had this really bad cough for. having a fever isn't a good sign but now that it's all gone and you're feeling better (except the coughing of course) then its probably not that bad. a dry hacking, nagging cough can last a long time for lots of reasons....you might not be sleeping well enough/letting your body heal, it may be caused by a drug that youstarted within the last YEAR, your body may just be having a harder time clearing the infection.
a wet, mucousy cough is different and indicates you still have an infection, even if it's something as basic as a cold.
there's nothing in the world that will get rid of the cough for you. you can take cough suppressants but those will only help temporarily to relieve symptoms when you need relief the most (ie: when you're about to sleep). you need to get lots of rest and lots of fluids. if you want you could try some menthol lozenges, they will help sooth and calm your throat

It takes a while for your body to recover after you've had a cold or other illness that involves your respiratory system. There is usually a bit of "junk" in your lungs that your body needs get out. Sometimes it's just too thick for your lungs to absorb so the only alternative is to cough it out. If you had a bad cold or the flu, the cough could last a while. If it seems like it's not getting at least a little less every day or it's accompanied by a fever or sore throat, you should see your doctor.

You are probably suffering from a lung cold--hopefully it will clear up within a few days. As long as you are not coughing up blood and you keep your ears unplugged you should recover in 10-12 days from the first notice of the cough. Rub lots of Vick's Vapor Rub on your chest, place a towel over it, wear a heavy top and sleep with a light coat on. Whenever you can, drink a glass of water--15 to 20 glasses everyday. Lastly take two 200 mg's of Ibuprofen every 4 hours for 2 days. I know this sounds like a lot--regardless it works. Good luck.

You may have bronchitis. I would suggest calling a doctor or talking to a pharmacist. The pharmacist may suggest some Mucinex which breaks up congestion.
