What kind of vegetarian are you?
If you're a lacto-ovo vegetarian, you eat eggs and drink milk, just no meat.
If you're a lacto vegetarian, you just drink milk.
If you're an ovo vegetarian, you just eat eggs.
It's your choice. If you're going to feel guilty eating eggs, don't do it. No one is going to punish you for it. Just realize you're going to have to find a source of protein.

The majority of vegetarians are lacto-ovo, meaning they eat dairy and eggs. If that's what you're going for, there's nothing wrong with eating eggs. Many veggies will go out of their way to buy free range eggs, since then they aren't supporting the cruelty of the egg-production industry. At least the chickens have better living conditions... how much better is arguable and depends on where you get the eggs (larger companies, IMO, are more likely to still have overcrowding, etc even in "free-range" birds). Personally, I checked my cities codes and found out I can have chickens (but not roosters). So now I have my own laying hens (2) which keep me in constant supply of fresh, organic, free-range eggs. Don't be fooled though... the cost of organic feeds makes it so I'm actually paying about the same for my eggs as I was when buying them at the market. I also buy hormone-free milk... luckily my local grocery outlet has it for the same price as regular milk at the normal grocery store.

I'm a vegetarian and I eat organic eggs. I like knowing that the eggs didn't come from abused chickens. Also, if you are concerned about getting enough iron, I would take a multivitamin everyday. I've been a vegetarian for a year and recently had a blood test. Everything was normal! I wasn't lacking any vitamins or anything.

No. An egg that you eat is an unfertilized egg, meaning it was never a chicken or going to be a chicken. Kind of like women, chickens have a certain amount of eggs in them and release them. Only if there is a male counterpart to fertilize the egg, there will be no offspring. It makes sense, but most people don't think about it like that.

Live your life the best way you know how. Try your best to live consciously and considerately. Don't worry about what other people think or fitting in to someone elses ideal of what a vegetarian or a vegan should be. If you're a vegetarian and think you need to eat the occasional omelet, go for it. It's your life and you need to do what is best for you first.

No, eggs are not meat, and they never will be an animal. They are unfertilized. If someone says an egg is meat/ and will one day be a chicken, that's like saying a woman miscarries every time she has a period.

No it isn't hypocritical for you to eat organic eggs because you are just doing what is best for you being a vegetarian.

No I don't think so. I mean all your eating is an unfertilized egg. Your not eating the meat/flesh of any animal, so I say, go for it!
