Ostrich is farmed in quite a number of US states, including in the Southwest and on the East Coast, and raised for both meat & feathers, as well as hides for "ostrich leather".
It cooks and eats a lot like beef, but is much lower fat.
Many Americans have VERY conservative diets though, so it's catching on more slowly than one might hope for.

i am american and i eat ostrich. a lot of fine dining places have it. it's actually pretty good depending on how its cooked. and i bet the arrogant ppl who say its gross have never tried it.
