Why did Mcdonalds get the heat and not other fast foods about Animals killed for Beef?

Well, I'm no activist, and I'm no friend of PETA, but I do think that PETA has a valid point.

We all know that animals die to provide us with meat. We all know that no matter how humanely you kill an animal you are still killing it. Nutrition in this planet has advanced enough to obviate the need for raising animals for food.

I heard once that in order to raise one pound of livestock to market, OVER FIFTY POUNDS of feed were put into it. That screams of inefficiency. Let's assume that only half of that is fit for human consumption. That's still a ratio of 25 to 1. Now let's factor in the energy consumption. You need to heat the barns, sterilize the slaughterhouses, drive the blaes of hay, truck the sacks of grain, process the feed, refrigerate theslaughtered product...Should I go on?

How about the environmental effect? Factory-style breeding of poultry produces waste that is CAUSTIC. In order to go into a chicken breeding house you need a hazmat suit. But then you are going to EAT what comes out of it? And how, exactly do you think mad cow disease became such a big scare? From contaminated feed in a large-scale operation. And the gas emissions from all these animals, and the animals laying in their own feces....I remember driving past a small cattle farm in Southern California. It was always so hot... And there was this little shed in the middle of a dirt field without a single tree in sight. The cows were all crowded around this shed thatwas no bigger than three desks put together. Wow. Lots of shade they got. And lots of water too! I kept thinking that the FDA would have a field day on the owner for neglect and abuse, but "since all they would do is get killed anyway for meat, what's the difference?" would have been what I heard had I called.

I'm not vegetarian, or vegan. My spouse is. And I am slowly finding myself agreeing more and more frequently with the idea of a meat-free lifestyle.

Like my wife says, "I'm not vegetarian because I feel sorry for the animals. I'm vegetarian because I cannot condone the killing of any life for my sake." Not to say that she's a saint. If there's a bug in the house, chances are it will get swatted. But we are talking about more than just our eating preferences. The consumption of meat is having a global effect. Climate change is real. Environmental impact starts with what we put in our bodies.

I predict that in the next ten years the world will be a completely different place. I admire my wife for seeing the writing on the wall well before that happens, and I support her decision, and I am taking my own steps toward joining her. PETA be damned. It's not about sabotaging poultry farms, or throwing paint on people who wear fur coats. It's about being a good world citizen.

Put THAT in your pipe and smoke it!

It's not that they are killed for beef, it's how they are killed, and how they are treated before hand. And Mcdonalds is probable the worst out there, besides KFC, so that's how they are getting "the heat".
And in my own personal opinion McDonalds has got to be the grossest, cruelest, fast food chain out there.

Would anyone care if Joe resturant owner came under fire? Not Likely. They always attack the big corp. it's a bigger news item. Almost everybody knows McDonalds. That's why these people do these acts. Maybe the news should ask all the activist what they eat for food?

PETA has a point! KFC is far the worst when it comes to the treatment of animals-they are horrible. Go on the PETA website and check out KFC-it is shocking!
