Grapefruit interferes with the breakdown of Warfarin, the blood thinner medication. If Warfarin is not broken down and high levels accumulate in the body, then the person can bleed to death because they will be unable to clot their blood

As to the Answer of Doc8, if their is nothing wrong with grapefruit why is their a warning on the label?
Grapefruit interacts with the liver on many meds and is not suggested to drink while taking them, check the link in the answer above

There are several medications that react negatively with the grapefruit- I do not remember the details only that it causes a bad reaction.

Grapefruit interacts with most medications mainly because it increases the potency of the drug which might lead to toxicity

No one ever said they could not. Grapefruit contains nothing to interfere. I do not agree with previous answers.

has to do with an enzyme either in the grapefruit or that is produced during digestion of it that affects the clotting factors

NOPE , WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT , GRAPEFRUIT DOES NOT MIX WELL..CAN ACTUALLY BE DANGEROUS!
