Does anyone else find it horribly dishearting that most peoples' reason for not becoming a Vegetarian is because "meat tastes good?"

I am a vegetarian. I admit, sometimes I do miss meat, but I know that I am saving about 100 animals a year. I do not judge people that eat meat though, it is their choice alone. There are plenty of great meals that are made of soy that taste pretty close to real meat.

I guess I'll join the thumbs-down crowd. I'm in a weird mood tonight so...

"would you consider becoming a vegetarian?" No, I would not *consider* becoming a vegetarian.

"why?" Because I have *been* one for over half a century now!

I tried it a long time ago, but my body rebelled through fatigue and low blood. I still consume a lot of healthy things like grains, fruits vegetables and nuts, but I am resigned to the fact that I am an omnivore. I do eat a lot of eggs, chicken and fish. I love those.

I have been gradually phasing meat out of my diet because my body is less and less tolerant to it. I don't know if that's a result of steroids in the meat or my body getting older, but I have been eating more and more grain proteins to avoid the bad effects I've been getting from meat lately.

already there.

wasn't always but has an allergic reaction to animal proteins.

i wear fur and leather so.... i'm not in it for the animal rights.. though someone should look into (yeh right that'll work not!) how mass produced warehouses that supply meats to fast food resturants..

the way they handle those animals.. i can't see how the meat can be that good..

but all food handling is questionable.. even with vegetables.. remember the spinach problem from 2006? ecoli? and then lettuce contaminated with ecoli...

meat.. or veggie... problems are there.

Yes because I do think that it it cruel to kill animals to eat them. I hate raw meat, but I do love me a big cheeseburger with mostly everything on it. that would be the hardest thing for me to give up, cheeseburgers. but I could give up everything else. I would become a vegertarian to save animals and to become more healthy. I love salad with croutons, soup, fruits and veggies. I also have tried soy prouducts, some dont taste very good but I have found myself feeling more energized. oh and flaxseed, that stuff I have to choke down but that is very healthy. Also take a multi-vitamin everyday. even store brand is good, better than nothing. they also have a natural vitamin that is good too. Take care!

I would never consider becoming a vegetarian because there are essential enzymes that plants cannot produce. Fish and poultry have enzymes needed for brain development. While I am not a vegetarian, most of the animals I eat are.

I could never become a vegetarian. I love all sorts of meats fixed so many different ways (but especially grilled).

I would not consider myself becoming a vegetarian because I need meat! I do eat salads though! But If you are looking to loose a couple pounds or to go on a diet you could go on a Kosher diet and you can still eat meat!! Not that I am calling you fat or anything!
