About half of the vegetarian and vegan section is devoted to questions that have been asked over and over again (where do I get protein, do vegetarians eat animal crackers, etc). These questions are very troublesome combined with the amount of questions that discriminate vegetarians and vegans for what they eat.

Is it useful to me, not so much. Can I be useful to other people, usually, but only when I sort through the questions to find one of actual substance.

In some ways yes, in some ways no. There is a lot of misinformation being spread in this section (vegetarians aren't healthy, you need to eat meat for protein, vegetarians eat fish, etc etc). On the other hand, there are a lot of people out there trying to correct this misinformation. All of this alternating information may be confusing for some of the people who ask the questions. I wish there was some way of weeding out the people who are not qualified to answer in this section...

I agree with fyvel; she was dead on. If we could get get rid of the V&V bashers and all the dolts who think fish is a vegetable (or at least get them to soak up the information), this place would rock the house.

Also, it makes a fun way to spend time. I am constantly working, so when I get home, I enjoy getting to share any information I have with new veggies. It is And it is fun when I get a best answer. I can't help it. It makes me happy.

:)

Edit-Sometimes I wish people would use the "resolved quesiton" link or the links to the 87 exact questions that pop up when they type in thier question. Not all the time however, because I often find people comming up with even better answers as they build on past ones.

I think it is helpful because it does give the opportunity to correct wrong information and share recipes and things like that. I cannot believe how ill-informed some people are. People do ask 'is such-and-such vegetarian' and I get frustrated when it's something they really could just check on the internet (they obviously have access!).BUT every person who just answers 'eat meat' should have a pumpkin smashed over their head.

Yes, it is. It's a channel for vegans and vegetarians to form a community and share information. I especially like how older (more experienced) veg*ns are able to help the newer/younger ones.

I think it is generally a good idea, as it does help clear up some misinformation and hopefully helps "newbies" in their quest for a more ethical lifestyle:) However, I wish it was a bit better "policed" from all the people who come in to obviously veg*n bash.

yes. this section is what first got me started at going vegan. plus, it is nice to know your not the only vegan out there. i mean, i am the only vegan i know personally. so it makes you not feel as isolated.

Yeh, it is helpful. I've learned a lot from
other vegetarians without asking questions.
