Ive decided to throw my sister a Surprise Seventeenth Birthday party since she did not have a Sweet Sixteen last year. The theme of the party will be Mardis Gras. Does anybody have any ideas of what to do and what to expect all all that? About 20 people are invited and its gonna be like a house party with music and all.

Hello. Do you live in New Orleans? Either way, I do. You can order a delicious King Cake from Gambino's bakery in Baton Rouge, LA. They ship anywhere and they have a web site. I think they have packages that include beads and stuff too. You HAVE to have a king cake. I'm not sure how much you know about Mardi Gras, so I don't want to over explain it, but I accept email and I love parties, I'd be happy to help with any other info.

Have masks for guests to put on. Serve gumbo or po'boy sandwiches. Decorate with gold,green and purple. Go overboard with decorateions. Get a king cake. Give everyone beads and come up with a list of relatively tame things that you can people can do to get more beads- ex: get the birthday girl a drink, thumb wrestles and wins, etc.
