I very much think so. I got addicted to smoking even before I was born, although my mum stopped smoking early in her pregnancy. When I was about 5 years old I decided that I would smoke as a grown up because I loved the smell of nicotine. So any ladies planning to get pregnant out there who smoke, stop for at least those 9 months!

It won't make the baby a nicotine addict but the negative effects are very serious.
Would you smoke in the same room as a new born baby?
If not then you certainly should not smoke while pregnant!
It restricts the oxygen that passes through the placenta and can cause low birth weight, asthma and/or exzema and even miscarriage or stillbirth.
The most important thing you can do for your baby is stop smoking!
As for people who say they smoked through their pregnancy and their baby was fine......that's lucky for them but honestly the risks far out-weigh the chances of everything being fine.
If you are pregnant yourself, good luck, hope everything goes well.

It is well known that smoking mothers pass on ALL 124 DIFFERENT POISONOUS CHEMICALS TO THEIR BABIES whilst in the womb, and via passive smoking.
The difference between nicotene and other 'harder' drugs is you are able to muster up the willpower to stop smoking nicotene. Especially having a baby.........isn't that enough of an incentive?
Just because some idiot says there was nothing wrong with her baby doesn't mean she didn't poison it whilst it was in her womb and doesn't make smoking when pregnant right.
Rather than worrying about all this, think of you and your baby's health and quit.

I don't think there is scientific proof yet but logic tells me there is a possibility. Nicotine is absorbed in your blood system (and reduces oxygen intake in your body). Considering that your baby is dependent on you (umbilical cord which is made up of blood vessels) it would not be too far fetched to say your child might be born predisposed to smoking. All said though, smoking has been linked to underweight births and miscarriages. That should be enough incentive to stop smoking.

Ask your self this question? like breathing only smoke or be having smoke for your food and liquid only be replaced with this? or would you prefer clean oxygen to help you breath and be able to grow ; they are also fed smoke through their umbilical cord,or would you much rather want to be fed good foods and liquids to help you grow?Stop Smoking!! For those who have nothing happen to them;please count your blessings,Do the research;you will find out the truth in all due time;or ask your doctors.

You may not pass on your addiction but you're still setting them up for a lifetime of other health problems. Children are very impressionable and if their parents smoke, they will think it is normal behaviour.
Only a very selfish person would have a baby and still smoke.

Possibly... I certainly the think the child as he/she grows older will be more likely to discover an addiction to it...
But whichever way, smoking has been proven to halm your unborn child, and so should be avoided at all costs xx

i dont think a baby would be born an addict...obviously there are numerous health issues but its more like if a heroin addicts had a baby, they would have major withdrawel symptoms when they were born.
My mum smkoed when she was pregnant with me and i was ok...i did start smoking at 14 but that would be a lot of years of cravings!!!!
