First of all, you got me so lost , what the hell is pasta pomodoro?
Tortellini are little round pinched over pasta pocket filled with various fillings, including meats, or cheeses, or vegetebles..
Gemelli are dried pasta that look like 2 strands of short pasta twisted together..
Malfandine are thin strips of pasta with two curled edges..
Penne are like, quill shaped pasta tubes with small sides..the ones with ridges are called penne rigati..
Vongole are small itallian clams..
Being around itallian food for a long long time,I know what some of them are..

cappellini = very thin spaghetti aka Angel Hair
gemelli = I think this one looks like 2 macaroni noodles, split the
long way and stuck together.
tortellini - folded half moon shape. Often filled with cheese
mafaldine= looks like a lasagna noodle
penne = aka mostaciolli
vongole = looked it up and seems to be a mollusk of some type.. if it's a noodle, I would think shell shaped

There are only about a thousand of them.
Ask the waiter. S/he will know the menu of the restaurant and will not only explain whats what, but will recommend whatever is best that day. That's part of the job of the wait staff.

Spaghetti con vongole.... spaghetti with clams.
The other are just different shapes.... the tortellini are usually stuffed.
