The other responders are correct in the impact on animals, but there are also negative impacts on people. You would find a lot of good information on the pcrm website too (see below) as they have many examples. The problem is that non-human animals are somewhat different in how their organs work, so testing on animals is not a true indication of possible side effects. One example is the case of Vioxx, which led to the heart attack and stroke deaths of many people. In the monkey trials, Vioxx appeared completely safe. Then they did limited human trials where there was a slightly increased risk of heart attack/stroke. When trying to get the drug approved, the company stressed the animal trials (including the monkey trials) and tried to gloss over the problems in the human trial. Thus a dangerous drug ended up on the market.

Animals feel pain too. Its just the fact that you are testing on a living thing and they cant do anything about it. If anyone really needs makeup or shampoo bad enough that they really need to test on animals, then they can go get tested on. And if it is for drugs, why would you test on an animal that isnt human? You can only get true results if you test on humans.

It hurts them a lot! have you ever stopped to think why they test them on animas and not people? Becasue there is a possibility of the person being hurt! They don't care if the animal gets hurt at all. There is a very large possibility of the animal dying becasue the drug was harmful! there are still tons of other reasons!

against: whilst that is for elegance products even inspite of the shown fact that i'm allergic to maximum of them. FOR: whilst that is for drugs for the medical care of severe ailment. My reason is in basic terms selfish, my son has a severe ailment and takes around 25-30 pills an afternoon to no longer point out inhalers and nutrition supplementations and as much as i like animals i could somewhat have my son alive.

Well for one the animals are caused pain and suffering for the rest of their lives. They are confined in very small cages with NO veterinary care. They are tortured and physically abused. Secondly, pharmaceutical companies give millions of dollars in grants for these unnecessary labs that test on animals. My personal opinion is that this is the only reason why they experiment on animals. They are receiving millions of dollars!! You have to be very stupid to not know that if you pump large doses of nicotine into your stomach you're not going to have any side effects. Come on! let's be realistic. It all boils down to greed and money. Good luck in your paper hopefully this helped.

Because animals aren't here to be used and abused in any way, you can find a ton of information on the Peta website, I must warn you it is graphic and so sad.

it causes them a lot of pain! we are putting potentially dangerous chemicals on their skin, in their eyes, or in their bodies, forcing them to suffer. we test medicines meant for humans on animals when animals don't even have the same biology as we do. it is just plain wrong.
