STD stands for Sexually Transmitted Disease. Since there are a great number of STD's out there - each one carries with it - its own unique symptoms. The bigger issue here is did you have unprotected (not wearing a condom) sex with an individual and now you suspect they have an STD? If so, then it is time to go to the doctor and get checked out. Many STD's can be cured with treatment - some cannot - but can be treated. Either way, you need to know. P.S. you cannot get an STD without one of the following:
1. Sexual contact (intercourse - anal or vagina)
2. Oral Sex
3. Blood Transfusion (unsafe blood - getting more and more rare)
4. Needle sharing (drug users) or another way of intermingling the blood/bodily fluid exchange.

It is unlikely to be an STD However, it is highly likely to be a bladder infection. She should go to do the "pee in a cup" test and get some antibiotics. Furthermore, she should urinate after having sex each and every time. In any case, a doctor visit is necessary.
