Indian food IS very healthy, if it's cooked at home. Indian food incorporates variety of legumes, grains, vegetables, and spices which are good for you. Cook low-fat at home with canola oil and you will lose weight. The spices cut down the need to put too much fat in food.

The modern Indian food is full of very hot spices and oil. Forgetting that stuff, traditional Indian food is healthy. Why wouldn't it be healthy? Grains, vegetables, fruits, beans... can't easily go wrong with that sort of diet. Good to lose weight? Do you mean losing excess fat?
To lose excess fat, all you have to do is exercise more or eat less. You can eat everything and anything if you exercise enough without gaining fat. Raise your metabolism through exercise and you'll never have excess fat no matter what you eat. Take up the sport of bicycle racing. Ever seen a bicycle racer with excess fat? Nope. Why? It's impossible, just as being an endurance runner.
So, do some exercise and the fat will melt away, and you'll notice that you won't even be able to eat food that is unhealthy for you, because it will soon make you sick. Try eating a good fast food meal before or after an intensive training session or a race. You'll puke. Try eating rice and vegetables, and you'll be fine. Simple. It's called listening to your body; your body will determine if something is healthy or not, but if your body is not working properly or is sluggish, it is less likely to communicate. The more you exercise, the more sensitive your body becomes and the more it will communicate with you. That’s my advice, anyway.

Indian food is healthy but for a Indian routine which includes yoga, Pranayam etc.
Ghee is also of two types So one is pure ghee which is an essential ingredient for production of lubricant for our joints. But it is supposed to be taken in right quantity (80 Gms maximum a day) along with yoga.
Also the use of herbs etc helps in production of enzymes and hence healthy digestion.
Indian chappati or bread as you may call has high contents of fiber and hence meets the body requirements (120 gms of fiber a day).
Indians use a lot of cereals almost in all the meals and hence provide sufficient quantity of proteins required for all age groups.
Indian take away now does not exist. What you people see is only a culture shift and learning from the west. Indian take away are chappati cooked in a special way so that it maintain softness and many such things.
Indian food also include few Ayurveda contents which provide anti oxygen agents, anti bodies etc to fight viruses etc.
One must try and cook Indian food at home to maintain hygiene, taste and nutrients.

Rice is high in calories and so are some of the creamy, buttery and yoghurt sauces. Bhajis and samosas ae deep fried so i doubt those are healthy either. This recipe seems quite healthy:
Vegetable Biriyani
Ingredients
1 carrot
1 brown onion
2 tablespoons green cabbage
orange pepper
2 tablespoons peas
1 tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon curry spice blend or curry powder
1 tablespoon turmeric
2 teaspoons sun dried tomato paste
1 knob vegan margarine
100ml unsweetened soya milk
salt
ground black pepper
100g basmati rice
Boil the rice according to the packet instructions with the turmeric in the water.
Finely dice the vegetables and fry in oil for 5 minutes. Add the curry powder and cook for 2 more minutes. Then add the sundried tomato paste and margarine and mix thoroughly. Cook for a few minutes more and then add the milk and gently simmer for 10 minutes. Then taste and season with the salt and ground pepper if necessary.
Once the rice is cooked stir it into the vegetable mix and serve immediately.

Indian food generally is cooked with plenty of oil and ghee which is clarified butter, also cream in some dishes so therefore I would not say it will help you to lose weight. If you like spicy food Thai curries are much lower in fat.

Always have vegetables on hand. Saute a big bag connected with frozen mixed vegetables in organic olive oil and garlic. Add some red pepper as well as turmeric for additional flavor in addition to separate into portion-sized containers to the fridge.

True that most dishes are cooked in lots of oils & fats, but if you order correctly you can get something that is relatively nutrient rich. For example, most lentil or chickpea dishes, or veggie curries are good because they are legume & veggie based. However, do keep in mind the high calorie content of anything drenched in sauce.

not all Indian food is healthy- - think of the amout of oil, ghee , coconut milk and fat used up daily in ordinary Indian cooking , even in vegetarian dishes. the only healthy Indian food is [steamed ] iddlies, [sukha ]chappathies and thayir sadam[ curd rice]

It does depend on what you order, alot off the creamy sauces are very high in fat but if you stick with the tomatoe based sauces, they are made with lots off tomatoes, onion and garlic with herbs and spices and chilli, all off which is very healthy, but a chicken korma has very high cals for the cream sauce.
Just think about what you order!
