You need to practice good hygiene if you are going to use toys. This should be common sense, but a lot of people don't know how to take care of a toy.

1. Use condoms to cover your insertable toys (dils, plugs, etc).
2. Wash them with hot soapy water, or if they are silicone, boil them in water to sterilize.

Toys can harbor bacteria. Chlamydia isn't particularly hardy outside the body, so if it's been dried out for a week, then chances are it won't be infectious for chlamydia (but god help you if you get infected with whatever else is on the toy!!!).

If your partner was in the process of being treated for chlamydia, but had not completed treatment when the toy was being used, and you insterted the toy while it was still wet, yes, you can get infected that way.

Anyway, lesson learned, cover your toys, and clean them between uses!!!
