If i eat a lot of sugar in one time, can I drink a lot of water to flush it out? I have a diabeties test tommorrow, but I want some cereal and it has a lot of sugar and the milk does too. I want to know if I can still eat it and just drink tons of water after?

I am not diabetic, I am only going to get tested for it. I am hungry and I don't know what to eat. I just want to know if I can eat cereal and that it won't affect the test. If is does, then I won't. Will the sugar have been gone by morning or what, gezz? And does drinking a lot of water help flush it out? I am ignorant, can you please help me?

Do you want a test that tells the truth or are you trying to trick your doctor , family and yourself ?
You should want to know what is going on in your body. Water will not rid your body of sugar and your doctor will not just do a test of your sugar at that moment.
Don't drink too much water. You must have heard of the woman who died of water poisoning a few weeks back.

First of all if you're diabetic you shouldn't be eating cereal with lots of sugar or the milk. If you really must you some splenda and soy milk with less sugar and carbs. Drinking water will help but will not entirely flush it out. The only one that you'll be cheating is yourself. Even if you are able to cheat the test when they get a blood sample they are able to do a special test that tells how your sugar levels have been for the past 3 months at least and that one you cant cheat. I think you need to change your eating habits.
This is from a 7 yr diabetic. Until now have i changed my eating habits and ive seen a big difference. I used to eat everything i wanted especially sweets then the day before the doctors visit give me a high dose of insulin but the only i ended up hurting was myself. Eat well, exercise, and lots of water!
Good luck and think about it...

The most common recommendation is that you FAST for at least 8 hours before such a test. FAST means don't eat anything. Eating cereal and lots of water will give a "false reading" on your test, and after all don't you really want to know the truth about your health?

Wow! The Test you're taking tomorrow will require you not to eat after midnight for a reason. The sugars you eat before midnight if you are Not a Diabetic will have been converted into energy and or fat depending based on the need your body requires, and will not effect your Test. If you eat a lot of sugar, and If you are indicating Diabetic symptoms then the sugars you eat before midnight will spill over in to your Urine and you will observe a constant thirst until it is deluded from your system. Please don't alter the test. Don't eat any thing after Midnight regardless of what you before Midnight, and the Test will show the results of the ongoing Diabetic process, if applicable. Your body will take care of you, if you take care of your body.

If you don't have diabetes then eating a lot of sugar will not change the results of the test. Your pancreas will make more insulin to take care of the sugar you eat. If you do have diabetes then drinking water will not change the results of the test. So eat what you would normally eat.
If you doctor thinks that you may have diabetes he will do a lab test that measures your average blood sugar over the past for several months. What you eat for one night will not change the results of that test.

Honey, you have to decide what is most important- your health, or eating a sugary cereal. You need to be following a diabetic diet if you are a diabetic! The high blood sugar can cause damage to your organs.
The only person you cheat when you eat this way is yourself. Take care of your health.

Your test for diabetes is a fasting test. They should have told you to not eat in the morning. If you are normal your sugar should return to normal two hours after eating. Do not eat in the morning. If the test is high, have another. Diabetes needs to be caught early. Be careful.

It depends on whether you ARE diabetic or not! If not, your system should dispose of the sugar pretty easily. If you are diabetic, you won't metabolize the sugar too well, and it will appear in your blood and urine for your test.
Even if you're not at all diabetic, sugary cereal won't solve hunger too efficiently. Perhaps an apple or a bowl of old-fashioned oatmeal would satisfy more completely.

If you are Diabetic, you should avoid the sugary foods at all times not only when taking a test.
I am sorry to inform you, but Diabetes is serious disease and should not be taken lightly as you have described.
Live a long Healthy Life, talk to your Doctor about proper foods which you can eat.

What does your instructions say about the test tomorrow. Did they give you instructions on what to eat or not to eat? If no, then do what you would usually do.
