Yes it is. Murgh Makhani is the Indian name for Butter Chicken.

Yes, They are the same thing. Both of them literally mean Chicken prepared in Butter. The Gravy/Sauce for the chicken is prepared in butter rather than in cooking oil. Every chef and every restaurant has a different way of preparing this wonderful dish, but the 2 main and mandatory ingredients in the recipe are always Butter and chicken. Bon Appetite.

Murgh in Hindi means chicken,makhan is butter,while makhani is anything made with butter,so there you are! they are one & the same whichever language you use.
