If it's a relatively small group, host it at your house. Then you will know what's going on. You certainly don't want anyone to sneak in booze because you'd be held liable. Teens are usually satisfied eating pizza, maybe having an assortment tray of veggies and dip, and lots of pop (soda). When my daughter turned 16, we gave her a party here in the basement and I hired a magician. This guy was great! He showed the teens fancy card tricks that defied their eyes. The guys, especially, were really impressed.

small party...buy a "mystery in a box" check Amazon (older teenagers) we've done the bowling( went real well) and reserved space at our local Y for a winter swim. I would avoid house parties and big sleepovers if you have young teenage girls. I did...and a couple weeks later my daughter attended one and even though she didn't come home disappointed, I know a couple girls who did. Renting party space and DJ's are nice but hey...scandals can brew in any coed situation like that even when chaparoned. Have fun and be prepared! :)

If it's for a girl, I suggest a makeover, hair, nails or a day at the spa. Girlie things...girls love looking pretty. If you want to go cheaper, make your own spa at home...there are a lot of different foods you can use for masks. You can buy a bunch of different nail polish, makeup...fun stuff! Make sure to have a digital camera to capture all the fun moments...like a avacado face mask!
I'm not sure about boys...maybe paintball or something cool like that.
Good luck!

How about theater games--improvisation. You can watch "Who's Line is It Anyway?" On cable and then try the games. Also, you can find good game books at most libraries. I would just have it at a house. If you watch the show it would be nice to have space and a big screen.
