I have received some very good advice from "Reginachi", I appreciate that you took the time to educate me even more. I wanted to porovide you with more details of my foot, you may send me an email, I want to be well educated on this subject as possible. Losing a sibiling & watching her die from this was an awful experience. Maybe she did give up, but she was only 40. I am in my 50's and it scares me to know that I have such a family history of it. Thank you for your information. I wish you would send an email so I can explain more than just on here.

Good luck and take good care of yourself!

Hi Daisy-I have enabled my email for you. I will do my best to help! I sometimes get a little busy with school, and probably spend way too much time on Answers ;) but I will try to do what I can to help. Send me the details.

I know you will be fine once you get back on track. You need to put yourself FIRST.

Some things I do is trying to eat fresh nutritious food from the 5 food groups every day. I am trying to eat more meat and vegetables and bran ect.

Keep wearing socks without elastic if possible- keep the feet clean and dry is half the battle, and no elastic ensures good circulation to your feet.

Exercise is a very important part of control. 30 minutes a day 5 times a week of some kind of exercise. Personally I run and swim, but anything is good. Many people recommend tai chi and yoga, and yoga has apparently been shown to have a very good effect on control. I should get into it myself, sigh. I dont know about tai chi, but it should have a very helpful effect.

The best thing you can do is test yourself alot. At least 4 times a day, I personally usually am at 6 times a day so I can test 2 hours after my meals. I still think my control is not where it should be but at least I am trying. It is hard.

This is known as the alternative medicine, what the western medicine cannot cure the Chinese has healing solutions long before except that the publicity is not in place, mostly through word of mouth.

Please read up the below linked page to be convinced.

Hi, Daisy! Sorry to hear about your sister.

Here's some more information that you may not have been exposed to. I realize that conventional health care is necessary and appropriate. That having been said, there are many things WE can do to overcome type II diabetes, and improve life as a Type I diabetic. I've been researching alternative medicine, and the amount of help that's available to diabetics is amazing.

Natural remedies are quite effective, and include:

Cinnamon
Bitter Melon
Gymnema Sylvestre
Nopal cactus
American Ginseng
Fenugreek
Chromium picolinate

Cinnamon regulates glucose, and has a polyphenol compound called MHCP that mimics insulin and activates cell receptor sites. A quarter teaspoon twice daily makes a difference. Fenugreek increases blood flow and inhibits the growth of infectious organisms. Everything on the list has a use in fighting diabetes. Learn how to use these herbs and don't fall victim to diabetes needlessly. You can find out about about them on line, or in a book I read cover to cover--

"One Son's Quest for the Cause and Cure of Diabetes", ISBN 7890766313

The author, a doctor, lost his mother to diabetes and spent the next 20 years finding a way to overcome it. My brother was dying of diabetes, and I was just starting to need insulin when we came across this definitive work which came out in February 2005. We both lead mostly normal lives now. It's a life saver, and the best money you'll ever spend on the subject if you decide to go that way.
You might want to check Abe Books, Alibri's, or Amazon.com for a good used copy cheap. I bought mine new, and I think it was about $35. I don't get any money from anybody for telling you this--just want to help, and the techniques in this book is what made the difference for me and mine. Best of luck.
