Within a week. It depends though what STD you are talking about. The curable ones you can get checked right away for the non curable ones can vary and take anywhere from 6 months to a year or longer than a year to detect.

I would get a pregency test if you miss a period and then take a STD test 3 weeks later and then 6 mos later because it takes different periods of time for different STDs to show up. Planned Parenthood is good for these types of things.

It really depends! Some STD's do not show up for years, and others within a few months. Maybe you should wait a few months.

For all other STD's besides for HIV, wait a week, for HIV, wait for 3 months. If you're young and healthy, a negative HIV test 3 months after your last unprotected exposure means you're clean.
