To be politically correct it is called native american food, possibly incorrectly it is called Red Indian food. Indian food in the US is the currys, pakoras, poppadums, etc. you get from an Indian restaurant over here.
Native Indian cooking can rival any cuisine on the planet. From basic frybread to complex game dishes that integrate European ingredients, native dishes are continually evolving.

Well, the only native American food I know of is fry bread. On the Crow reservation where Little Big Horn is, the day I was there the special was menudo and fry bread. They had no spices, must have been a horrible diet. They've made up for it, they were all fat with diabetes.

Probably just depends on what someone decides to call it... Most public powwows I've been to have had "Indian Fry Bread," "Indian Tacos," and so on...
Now TRADITIONAL foods probably have traditional names in their respective languages.

Possibly, but maize has been taken over by the Mexicans and it's absolutely ages since I saw a buffalo steak in my local supermarket! Salmon have been fished out and maple syrup isn't what it used to be!
